State Conference Events

Connect With South Carolina Beekeepers....

SC Beekeeper Events are always open to the public.  We encourage anyone to attend our events  and local association all across South Carolina.

Our State events happen twice a year in the Spring and Summer.   We invite top honeybee researchers and scientist in the United States to speak at these conferences.  These and other Speakers bring the latest in beekeeping information and developments. Beekeeping Vendors from across the U.S. come to make beekeeping supplies available to all attendees.

Local associations have monthly meetings usually on first, second or third Thursday of each month.  Please check out our Local Associations Tab for locations.  At these meetings, you will find honey bee and beekeeping information that concern the local area.  Also contact your local association for Basic Bee School Classes.

These local associations participate at a local level for honeybee education at Festivals and other public events.  They begin their membership drives in the fall for the local and state membership.  If you are looking for events in your area, there is a local association near you, click here.

    Honey and Beeswax Judging

Now is the time to start preparing your show honey and
beeswax.  Pouring the honey ahead of time gives time to get all air bubbles out.  Make sure to pick the best jar and lid.  No serial numbers on jar or other marks including your finger prints.

We will have a honey show and competition at our summer meeting this year. Bring along a container of your best honey. Please do not place a label on your honey containers. Honey classes will be pint and quart extracted. There will be light and dark classes, so do not be concerned if your honey is dark. A “black jar class” will be included again this year. This class will be judged on taste only. Small black jars will be provided at the show, so bring a sample of your best tasting honey and take this ribbon home.

Bees Wax must weigh 1 lb. or no more than more than 1 lb. 1oz.  No trash in your wax, corners smooth, surface smooth, shine it with something silk, etc.

This year honey will be accepted on Thursday from 12pm till 1:00pm, Friday morning 7:30am till after 1st break.  All awards for honey and wax will be given out Saturday morning.
